Not only are Broadway productions of the finest productions, including revivals, that have been well-received in regional and small-theater productions and have achieved box-office success, but their narrative topics, staging, and casting methods also reflect the social conditions of the times in which they were produced. This paper will analyze the characteristics and trends of award-winning Broadway productions in the 21st century, from 2001 to 2022, in terms of narrative content, writers, and production methods. In the process of analysis, it becomes clear that there are several specific diversity-accepting tendencies in award-winning productions: race, ethnicity, gender, economic disparity, war, suicide and drug addiction, the Internet society, loneliness and the search for identity, and so forth. In recent years, influenced by the spread of the pandemic that resulted in long-term theater closures, Black Lives Matter (BLM), gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ, immigrants, disability, and #MeToo, the rise of conservative and other related themes and visual representations have become prominent.
